Emergency Notification
To
alert parents of emergency situations in their child's/children's school, brief
text messages with important information will be sent via
twitter. Parents will need
to sign up for a
twitter
account and add their cell phone number to the account to receive the alerts via
text message. We will not be able to send email notices at this time. To receive
email alerts, third party twitter applications such as
nutshellmail,
tweetbymail,
tweet2inbox,
tweetymail etc can be found online. (NOTE:
Dickson County Schools in no way endorses the
previously mentioned third party applications. Subscribers will be responsible
for researching for themselves an appropriate alternative for receiving the
emergency notifications by email.)
I. How to create an account:

Go to http://twitter.com, enter your full name, email address, create a password and click the yellow Sign up for Twitter button, or simply navigate to https://twitter.com/signup.

On the next page, select a username from one of the usernames suggested or create your own. Twitter will automatically suggest available usernames based on the real name and email address you've entered. Try to pick something that describes you - whether it's a nickname, an interest, or a hobby.

Double check your name, email address, password, and username to make sure all fields are correct.

You may be asked to complete a Captcha. Fill in the words that are shown to let us know that you're human!

Success! You now have a Twitter account.
II. Search and follow DCBE
Once your account is setup, search for DCBE or click
http://twitter.com/DCBE
and choose 
III. Turn on Notifications

Be sure you are logged in to Twitter.

Near the top right hand side of the page, find your username. Click on the small arrow and choose Settings

Click on mobile at the top and follow the instructions to add your mobile phone. This will enable you to receive text messages sent out by Dickson County Schools. Be sure to select your text preferences.
