School Closings

The Director of Schools will make the decision to close schools in the event of hazardous weather or any other emergency which presents a threat to the safety of students, staff members, or school property. As soon as the decision to close schools is made, the Director of Schools will notify the public media and request that an announcement be made.
The Director of Schools also has the authority to delay school opening up to two hours when necessary because of inclement weather.
School related closing notices can usually be found on any of the local television news channels (2, 4, 5, 17) the Dickson County Schools website or by calling (615) 441-1994. The Director of Schools makes every effort to decide school closings by 6:00 a.m. if not the night before.
Parents who have signed up for Emergency Notifications will be sent a notification if schools are closed or dismissed early. Athletics and extracurricular activities cancellations will be determined on a case by case basis.
